This image was inspired by all the carnivals and fairs that pop up during the summer. A flash + snoot + grid was positioned at the back on camera left for a hair light. A flash + beauty dish + grid was positioned up front on camera right. In the back, I have two LED sticks + gels pointed mostly at each other to create pink highlights and blue shadows on white curtains. Now for the crazy part. All of the blue lines and swirls were created with a shutter drag technique + an LED fiber optic whip. Additionally, a neutral density lens filter + a star lens filter was used in such a way to make the back light look like the spokes of a Ferris wheel. This was a three second exposure that involved waving the LED whip around in the frame and finally posing at the end for a rear curtain sync flash.
