I wanted to create dramatic color portrait for my fitness client, so I opted for a multi-light set-up using profoto D2s and a D1 along with lots of gels. A total of 4 strobes were used: 2 bare bulbs: one with a blue gel, and one with a combination of red & blue gels. I chose a 3' Octa with diffusion and a blue gel feathered in front of my client as the main light, and a 1×4 gridded strip box and a purple gel for fill. Depending on which direction I had him face, I was able to create a stunning variety of color options by varying which light and gel were the main light. In the image shown, he is facing the bare bulb with the red portion of the gel illuminating the front portion of his face and body and the Octa with blue gel became the fill light.
