I was inspired by Lindsay's tutorial on YouTube demonstrating the Smoke Genie, so I had to try it out. I wanted a full body image with the feeling of my client radiating heat and flames. I used 5 lights to achieve my goal. I chose a 5 degree grid for my main light, positioned on her face for drama, and a 1×4 strip box with a grid and CTO gel, placed directly overhead to illuminate her dark hair. I multi-purposed two bare bulbs with barn doors and Orange gels as both rims to illuminate the smoke and her body, and also aimed on the background for added interest. For my fill, I chose a zoom reflector pulled back to camera left with a red gel to showcase her torso. I absolutely love red and fire, so this is a favorite setup of mine!
