This is a portrait of my good friend Liam. He has wonderfully red hair, a great physique, and a open mindset towards creativity. I wanted to photograph a masculine straight man in a colorful way and he was up for it! I put a red gel umbrella overhead as our key. I love the intensity of the color and how it gave him lots of definition. I like how red and purple play together, and was delighted to find I could achieve a purple color on a gray backdrop, and get a pink highlight on the side with a pink gelled soft box. I liked these colors but I wanted the image to be a bit more warm to I added a yellow rim coming from the opposite side. The way it caught shimmery body makeup on him was perfect!
